Clerks, filmed in black-and-white is an ultimate low-budget success story that turned Kevin Smith from a working class kid from New Jersey to one of the most popular filmmaking personalities .
The outrageous situations and the graffic characters composed a unique modern comedy.
It cost $27,000 to make, but the film’s final cost was $230,000 after the rights to the film’s grunge and punk-oriented soundtrack are added in, making it one of the few films in history where the rights to the soundtrack actually cost more than the film. First movie includes Girls Agains Boys, Alice in Chains, The Jesus Lizard, Bad Religion, Soul Asylum.
The huge success of the movie had as result a sequel Clercs II, with the same cast and director but this time filmed in colour. Clercs II reaches the level of first movie as you can see watching the follwing scene.
The O.S.T. includes names as Smashing Pumpkins,Talking Heads, Q Lazzarus & Garvey, Soul Asylum.
